A grey, even sky over the water, with an easy breeze from the SW and no real change in pressure. Activity on Moor Lake should centre on structure within a cast of the bank. If you must go, go in the night. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly. The season of moving fish: stay mobile and watch for bait.

Moor Lake is one of the Renfrew County waters in Ontario. Elevation runs to 186 metres. Surface area runs to about 8 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is low-lying compared with other Ontario water we list. Some 17 km away sits Deep River, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Gatineau, 173 km distant. Local rules may differ a few miles either side of here.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. County-wide records name smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch, rock bass and brook trout. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. On Moor Lake that means starting tight and working out.
On the long-term average, July reads 19°C and January reads -13°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and late November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Moor Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. Roney Lake sits 1.4 km off and takes the overflow. Treat access at Moor Lake as something to verify.
