A bright day with hardly any cloud, with a light NNW breeze and no real change in pressure. Start the search at Mash Lake along the calm side of the wind. If you pick one session, make it the evening. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Mash Lake is an Algoma water, in Ontario. The bank gives way to rolling bush. It measures about 17 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The bank runs about 3.6 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. The nearest town is Wawa, 45 km away. Greater Sudbury sits 311 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Algoma, recorded fish include walleye, northern pike and Iowa darter. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Read Mash Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Long-term averages put July at about 16°C and January near -13°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Ice usually gives way near late April, and forms again about late November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. It sets the rhythm of the year at Mash Lake.
Public data does not answer the access question here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Season dates differ by species, so read the table. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Found Lake is 1.3 km distant. For Mash Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
