A half-covered sky tonight, with steady pressure of wind from the SSW and steady pressure. Give the shaded margin through bright spells the first hour at Marl Lake. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Marl Lake sits in Frontenac County, out in Ontario. The bank gives way to mixed forest. With some 17 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Sharbot Lake lies 32 km from the water. Perth is 48 km and Renfrew 49 km. More in the same country: Summit Lake just 1 km, Arcol Lake within 1.7 km, Hidden Lake just 2.6 km, Palmerston Lake within 2.9 km and Crib Lake just 3 km. The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Frontenac County: pumpkinseed, bluegill and rock bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Marl Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Average temperature peaks around 19°C in July and bottoms out near -11°C in January. Winter puts a hard lid on this one. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from mid April. From about mid April to around early December, expect open water on the long-run figures. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. The season on Marl Lake follows the weather closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. Expect 1 km away in from where the car goes. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Summit Lake, 1 km out. Rules at Marl Lake are worth checking on the day.
