Clear air and long views across the water tonight, with stillness over the whole water and steady pressure. Fish at Lynx Lake should hold close to the calm side of the wind. The strongest window runs from the day. Stay mobile and follow the activity. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Lynx Lake is one of the Kenora District waters in Ontario. The ground around here is pine and birch. At some 2.80 sq km it is far too large to cover on foot in a day. With 14 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. The closest town, Sioux Lookout, is 31 km distant. Thunder Bay is the closest city, 300 km away. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Kenora District, recorded fish include northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Lynx Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. The water is typically free of ice between late April and mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Anyone fishing Lynx Lake regularly works to that calendar.
We hold no note on access for this one. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Rules differ from one water to the next round here. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. Whiz Lake, 2.7 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Treat Lynx Lake as unsettled until someone local tells you otherwise.
