A closed sky with even light today, with a steady SSW wind with the glass holding level. The water to cover at Lower Awada Lake is shallow cover and weed edges. Quiet conditions all day, with the night marginally better. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Look for Lower Awada Lake in Frontenac County, Ontario. It stands 144 metres above sea level. With some 12 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. Roughly 2.9 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. It is low-lying compared with other Ontario water we list. Nearest place of any size is Elginburg/Silvers Corners/Shannons Corners, 17 km away. For a city, Kingston is 27 km off. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Survey and observation records for Frontenac County include pumpkinseed, bluegill and rock bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Fish Lower Awada Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
In an average year July sits at 20°C and January at -9°C. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid April. Break-up sits around mid April on average, with the water closing again about mid December. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Lower Awada Lake.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Look for a notice board at the entrance. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. The nearest alternative is Freeman Lake, 0.8 km out. Check the position at Lower Awada Lake before loading the car.
