Cloud in patches with bright spells between, with a stiffish breeze from the SE and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Loon Lake is inflow corners and shaded margins. Plan around the stretch from morning through afternoon. Change depth before you change anything else. The autumn feed-up is on; baitfish areas are the key.

Loon Lake sits in Bruce County, out in Ontario. Everything around it is mixed forest. At about 15 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Bank access stretches around 1.8 km in total. Ground here is low by Ontario standards. For a base, Tobermory sits 9.2 km out. Wiarton is 64 km away, with Little Current at 87 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Open biodiversity records for Bruce County list smallmouth bass, lake whitefish, humpback whitefish, rainbow smelt and white sucker. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. On Loon Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Climate records put July near 19°C and February near -7°C. Hard water is a season in its own right here. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid April. Open water usually runs from mid April until about mid December. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Loon Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping is blank for access, so scout the approach before committing the car. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Marr Lake sits 1.7 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing on Loon Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
