Heavy overcast holding through the day, with dead-still conditions and pressure going nowhere. The water to cover at Little Lake is bays that hold the day's warmth. The productive run goes night into morning. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Little Lake is one of the Lanark County waters in Ontario. The ground around here is mixed forest. About 6 hectares of surface, which puts the far bank inside easy sight. By elevation it sits in the lower part of our Ontario listings. For supplies, Carleton Place is 24 km out. Beyond it, Perth at 25 km and Almonte at 26 km. This one is safely inside the county line.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Across Lanark County, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, rock bass, smallmouth bass and bluegill. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. At Little Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
July runs about 20°C on average, January about -11°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid April. The open-water window runs from around mid April to about early December in an average year. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. Little Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. There is no recorded infrastructure here; expect to find your own way in. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Hornes Lake at 0.7 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing on Little Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
