Overcast skies today, with a mirror surface most of the day and the barometer holding steady. Little Boot Lake should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. A long productive spell runs the day. Make the first hour count and build on it. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Set in District Municipality of Muskoka, Little Boot Lake is an Ontario water. Height above sea level is 299 metres. This is a pocket water of some 9 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Some 29 km away sits Bracebridge, the nearest settlement. It is 81 km to Barrie, the nearest city. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Records held for District Municipality of Muskoka cover pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and rock bass. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Fish Little Boot Lake where the bottom changes rather than where it looks deep.
In an average year July sits at 19°C and January at -10°C. Winter shuts the surface down for months. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Ice usually gives way near mid April, and forms again about early December. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Plan around that when you fish Little Boot Lake.
Our records carry no access rule either way. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Murphy Lake at 0.6 km is the nearest alternative.
