A still, cloudless night on the water, with a gentle ripple from the SSW with the barometer flat. Lissons Lake should fish best around any hard bottom among the soft today. The productive run goes night into morning. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Look for Lissons Lake in the United Counties of Leeds and Grenville part of Ontario. The country round it is mixed forest from end to end. At about 12 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. About 1.5 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. Some 21 km away sits Smiths Falls, the nearest settlement. Prescott lies 27 km off, Ogdensburg another 30 km. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Public occurrence data for United Counties of Leeds and Grenville names pumpkinseed, bluegill and yellow perch. The county list is broader than any single water. Take Lissons Lake a stretch at a time.
Climate normals give 20°C for July and -10°C for January. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid April. Ice clears near mid April and comes back about early December in a typical year. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. Lissons Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. If the gate is shut, Cranberry Lake at 11 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Lissons Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
