Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with a decent W wind working the banks and the barometer holding steady. Give the shallows early and the drop later the first hour at Lighthouse Lake. One clear peak today: the night. Cover water early, then settle where the signs are. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Lighthouse Lake is one of the Sudbury waters in Ontario. The land about it is pine and birch. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Sudbury. Head to Little Current, 34 km away, for anything you forgot. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 69 km distant. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Across Sudbury, recorded fish include smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye. Take it as the county picture rather than a promise for this water. Lighthouse Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
July is the warm end of the year here, averaging about 18°C, while January sits near -8°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly mid April. Average temperatures cross freezing around mid April in spring and again near early December in autumn. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. It holds true on Lighthouse Lake more years than not.
Whether you may fish here is not something records settle. There is somewhere to leave the car, 350 m off. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Sugarbush Lake at 5.1 km is the nearest alternative. For Lighthouse Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
