Clear overhead with good moonlight, with almost no wind to speak of and pressure going nowhere. The fish at Krisko Lake are likely to sit near the shallows early and the drop later. If you pick one session, make it the morning. Let the water tell you when to move. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Krisko Lake sits within Kenora District in Ontario. The bank is 424 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 24 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 2.8 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Most waters listed here for Kenora District are larger. Ignace sits 46 km from the bank. Thunder Bay sits 206 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker, johnny darter and logperch among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Krisko Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
Averages here run 18°C at the top of summer and -20°C at the bottom of winter. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from late April. The lid tends to go about late April and return around mid November. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. Krisko Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Hakli Lake sits 0.7 km off and takes the overflow. Check the position at Krisko Lake before loading the car.
