Rain moving through today, with a firm SSW blow with a settled glass. Most of the action on Kingsford Lake should come off the calm side of the wind. If you must go, go in the morning. Treat it as a scouting trip with a rod in hand. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

Kingsford Lake is listed under Frontenac County, Ontario. Country round the bank runs to mixed forest. This is sizeable water at about 1.62 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. Size puts it in the front rank of our Frontenac County list. Sharbot Lake sits 26 km from here and is the nearest stop. For a city, Kingston is 38 km off. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
Nothing we hold settles how deep this runs. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Across Frontenac County, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, bluegill, rock bass and smallmouth bass. Records at this level tell you what is in the area. The shape of Kingsford Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Seasonal averages run from -9°C in January up to 20°C in July. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid April. Averages suggest open water from about mid April through to roughly mid December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Kingsford Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. There is a campsite 880 m from the water. Toilets are 920 m away, which matters on a long session. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. Clearwater Lake sits 0.9 km off and takes the overflow. Where Kingsford Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
