Rain moving through today, with an easy breeze from the NNE and steady pressure. On Jennie Lake, work the margins and the shelf beyond them first. A slow day overall; the morning is the best of a quiet lot. Go lighter and slower than usual. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Ontario holds Jennie Lake, in Kenora District. The bank is 346 metres above sea level. Roughly 16 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. There is roughly 1.8 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Our Kenora District list holds plenty of bigger water. Kenora is the closest town at 21 km. After that come Moose Lake at 71 km and Vermilion Bay at 101 km. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. At Jennie Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Look for the thaw near late April; the fishing lifts straight after. Open water usually runs from late April until about mid November. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Plan around that when you fish Jennie Lake.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. Should this one be busy, Helen Lake is 1.1 km off. Confirm before you fish Jennie Lake.
