A broken sky giving spells of shade, with a steady WNW wind and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Inglis Lake along the seam between weed and open water. A broad window opens from night into morning. Commit to the pattern once the first fish shows. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Out in Kenora District, Ontario, sits Inglis Lake. The land about it is rolling bush. Roughly 20 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. The whole outline is near 2.3 km, and most of it is walkable. Our Kenora District list holds plenty of bigger water. The closest town, Kenora, is 15 km distant. Beyond it, Moose Lake at 73 km and Vermilion Bay at 95 km. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Records held for Kenora District cover northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter. These are county-wide records, so not all of them will be in this water. The shape of Inglis Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -18°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Once it clears, about late April, the fishing comes on quickly. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near mid November in autumn. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Inglis Lake that shapes the whole year.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. The nearest alternative is Hinterland Lake, 1.5 km out. Ask locally about Inglis Lake if anything is unclear.
