Stars out and no cloud tonight, with an easy breeze from the WNW and pressure going nowhere. Start the search at Hill Lake along the shaded margin through bright spells. Expect the better fishing from night into morning. Give the likely spots time before moving. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Hill Lake lies within the bounds of Frontenac County, Ontario. The bank is 268 metres above sea level. At about 21 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Roughly 2.6 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. The nearest town is Sharbot Lake, 36 km away. It is 85 km to Kingston, the nearest city. The county edge is within a short distance of the bank.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Frontenac County records list pumpkinseed, bluegill, rock bass and smallmouth bass among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Hill Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -11°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near mid April. The water is typically free of ice between mid April and early December. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. On Hill Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
We hold no note on access for this one. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. There is a car park 550 m from the bank. There is camping recorded roughly 570 m off. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Failing this one, try Marble Lake, 1 km away. Where Hill Lake is concerned, a local answer beats a written one.
