Heron Lake, Ontario: Fishing Spots and Seasons

The bank runs about 3.8 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. Huntsville is the closest town at 34 km. Barrie sits 135 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. • Where to Fish on Heron Lake

  No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. County-wide records name smallmouth bass, cisco, yellow perch, pumpkinseed and rock bass. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. The near bank of Heron Lake is often the one people ignore.
