Moonlight in and out behind the cloud tonight, with steady pressure of wind from the NW and pressure going nowhere. Most of the action on Hall Lake should come off the margins and the shelf beyond them. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the night. Lower the pace and stay patient.

The Thunder Bay District end of Ontario holds Hall Lake. Everything around it is northern bush. It measures about 16 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. Bank access stretches around 2.0 km in total. It is one of the smaller waters we list in Thunder Bay District. For supplies, Greenstone is 72 km out. Geraldton follows at 82 km, then Longlac at 100 km. No border sits close enough to matter.
No chart reached our records; the first cast is your sounding. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Thunder Bay District records list cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater among the fish reported. What holds for the county may not hold for this water. At Hall Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
The year swings from about -20°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. Cold dominates the year and the fishing works around it. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Climate figures give an open season running early May to mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. On Hall Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
We have no record of the rules that apply on this bank. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A light spinning outfit with a small box of lures and some bait covers most of what swims here. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Alpha Lake at 2.5 km is the sensible second choice. Nothing on Hall Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
