Scattered cloud taking the edge off the glare, with a consistent blow out of the WNW and pressure going nowhere. Expect most activity at Habermehl Lake around the shallows early and the drop later. Save your energy for the morning. Let the water tell you when to move. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Habermehl Lake lies in Grey County, in Ontario. It stands 288 metres above sea level. Surface area is around 22 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Around 2.4 km of margin, front to back. Hanover at 7.2 km is the nearest place to stop. Then Walkerton, 14 km, and Mildmay, 20 km. The county line runs close by, so rules can change within a short drive.
Depth figures are not published for this one. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Fish documented in Grey County include Chinook salmon, rainbow trout, brook trout, white sucker and cisco. Some of the species recorded here are protected or tightly regulated, so check what may be targeted before you fish. Habermehl Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -7°C. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. The lid usually sets by midwinter and gives way around mid April. Break-up near mid April, freeze-up near mid December: that is the shape of an average year. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. Expect Habermehl Lake to follow that timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. For a change of water, Dankert Lake is 2.3 km distant. None of that is settled for Habermehl Lake in what we hold.
