An even grey lid over the water, with a decent WNW wind working the banks with a settled glass. Fish at Guda Lake should hold close to reed fringes and open pockets. The productive run goes afternoon into evening. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Guda Lake lies in Thunder Bay District, Ontario. The ground round it is mixed forest. The water covers some 12 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The bank runs about 2.2 km all the way round, so one visit can cover most of it. On size it sits at the modest end of our Thunder Bay District list. Atikokan is the closest place, 66 km off. Further out sit Ely (79 km) and Grand Marais (81 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Reported across Thunder Bay District: cisco, blackfin cisco and rainbow smelt. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. The shape of Guda Lake decides where the fish sit.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -16°C in January. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Count the season from break-up, usually late April. Break-up sits around late April on average, with the water closing again about mid November. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Guda Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
No access rule appears in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Fishing rules and camping rules are set separately here. The nearest alternative is Deacon Lake, 1.4 km out. Signs at Guda Lake carry more weight than any list.
