Overcast skies today, with a soft NW wind and pressure sitting still. Expect most activity at Green Lake around any hard bottom among the soft. If you pick one session, make it the night. Change depth before you change anything else. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Sudbury, Green Lake is an Ontario water. It lies 219 metres above sea level. It runs to roughly 13 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. About 1.5 km of bank, so nothing stays unexplored for long. On size it sits at the modest end of our Sudbury list. Lively lies 41 km from the water. Beyond it, Espanola at 43 km and Greater Sudbury at 51 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Reported across Sudbury: smallmouth bass, northern pike and yellow perch. Species recorded across the county may be limited to a few waters. On Green Lake the first feature you find is usually worth a session.
Typical July readings run about 19°C; by January the average is down near -10°C. Seasons are distinct, and each one fishes differently. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about early December. The shoulder weeks of the open season are the productive ones. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Green Lake.
The access position is unclear from public sources. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. A camping area sits within 720 m of here. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Barbless rules turn up on managed water more often than not. Bunnyrabbit Lake at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. For Green Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
