Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a decent WNW wind working the banks with a settled glass. Most of the action on Gravenor Lake should come off the weed line and any gaps in it. A hard day on paper; the night edges the rest. Scale down and fish slowly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Gravenor Lake is a Timiskaming District water, in Ontario. The setting is rolling bush. This is a pocket water of some 6 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. On size it sits at the modest end of our Timiskaming District list. Englehart lies 22 km from the water. Further out sit Kirkland Lake (36 km) and Temiskaming Shores (52 km). The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
We hold no survey for this water; read the slope of the shoreline instead. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Timiskaming District records list brook trout, northern pike and yellow perch among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Gravenor Lake responds to conditions more than to tactics.
Between January at about -16°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and mid November. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. The season on Gravenor Lake follows the weather closely.
The paperwork position is blank for this one. No built facilities appear in mapping around this water. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. Kearney Lake, 0.9 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Gravenor Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
