Clear overhead with good moonlight, with a kind W breeze on the water with the glass holding level. Start the search at Graft Lake along bays that hold the day's warmth. The forecast backs the stretch from afternoon into evening. Settle in and let the day develop. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Graft Lake is an Algoma water, Ontario side. Around the bank it is lake country bush. The water covers some 16 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The edge runs 2.2 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. Some 73 km away sits Wawa, the nearest settlement. The big place round here is Greater Sudbury, 273 km distant. No county line comes close, which keeps the paperwork simple.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Survey and observation records for Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. At Graft Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Between January at about -14°C and July at about 16°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Break-up comes around late April, and the run that follows is short and strong. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. Plan any trip to Graft Lake around it.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. There is no mapped parking or launch close by, which usually means walking in. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. The nearest alternative is Mackey Lake, 0.9 km out. Treat access at Graft Lake as something to verify.
