Goddard Lake Fishing in Hastings County, Ontario

• Overview

  The Hastings County end of Ontario holds Goddard Lake. The bank is 286 metres above sea level. At about 10 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 2.5 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Start from Bancroft, 15 km down the road. For a city, Kingston is 143 km off. No border sits close enough to matter.

• Where to Fish on Goddard Lake

A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Reported across Hastings County: rock bass, smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and bluegill. From about late April to around early December, expect open water on the long-run figures. Spring is short and heavy here; autumn is longer and steadier. At Goddard Lake the season follows that pattern closely.

• Tackle & Baits

  The access position is unclear from public sources. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Egan Chutes Provincial Park runs up to the bank here, which usually means extra restrictions. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where access is informal, keep it that way by behaving. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Bresnahan Lake, 3.5 km away, makes the obvious fallback.
