A clear night sky over the water, with the water lying quiet and steady pressure. The productive water at Glassy Lake will be around the first drop-off and weed lines. The night is where the day comes good. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Frontenac County in Ontario is where Glassy Lake sits. Elevation runs to 142 metres. It runs to roughly 10 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. Bank access stretches around 1.8 km in total. It lies lower than most water we list in Ontario. Supplies mean a trip to Sharpton/Glenvale, 17 km off. After that come Elginburg/Silvers Corners/Shannons Corners at 17 km and Cataraqui North at 23 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Frontenac County cover pumpkinseed, bluegill, rock bass and smallmouth bass. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Anyone new to Glassy Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Averages here run 20°C at the top of summer and -9°C at the bottom of winter. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Break-up comes around mid April, and the run that follows is short and strong. From about mid April to around mid December, expect open water on the long-run figures. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. Plan any trip to Glassy Lake around it.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A landowner's word beats anything printed elsewhere. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Doubloon Lake sits 0.4 km off and takes the overflow. For Glassy Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
