Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a useful W wind pushing food about with the barometer flat. On Fork Lake, work sheltered bays and points first. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Fork Lake lies in Timiskaming District, in Ontario. The land about it is pine and birch. Surface area is around 22 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. The edge runs 4.6 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. The town to know is Kirkland Lake, 21 km out. Englehart lies 33 km off, Rouyn-Noranda another 57 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Nothing in our records gives a depth for this one. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Timiskaming District include brook trout, northern pike and yellow perch. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. Fork Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate records put July near 17°C and January near -17°C. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. The first weeks of open water and the last are the ones to plan for. On Fork Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. Failing this one, try Diamond Lake, 0.9 km away. The position on Fork Lake is worth confirming on the day.
