Rain moving through today, with steady pressure of wind from the W and the barometer holding steady. Most of the action on Forester Lake should come off the calm side of the wind. A stay-home graph, with the evening as the one excuse to go. Scale down and fish slowly. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

The Algoma end of Ontario holds Forester Lake. The water sits 423 metres up. At about 50 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Around 10 km of bank, which is a long day on foot. Start from Sault Ste. Marie, 69 km down the road. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 231 km away. The nearest boundary is well away, so one set of rules covers the water.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Survey and observation records for Algoma include walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Forester Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
The seasonal spread runs -13°C to 17°C. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. Hard water holds through the cold months, breaking up near late April. On average, late April opens the water and late November closes it again. From the thaw to midsummer the fishing improves week by week. Plan any trip to Forester Lake around it.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. The map shows no ramp or car park nearby, so this is a walk-in water. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where the road in crosses private land, ask first. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. For a change of water, Loggers Lake is 4 km distant. None of that is settled for Forester Lake in what we hold.
