Stars out and no cloud tonight, with a stiffish breeze from the SW and no real change in pressure. Activity on Ford Lake should centre on the first drop-off and weed lines. Set the alarm around the night. Work the productive water thoroughly. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Ontario holds Ford Lake, in Sudbury. Elevation runs to 260 metres. At about 21 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. There is roughly 3.2 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. Nearest town is Markstay-Warren, 28 km off. Capreol is 32 km and Valley East 38 km. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Records held for Sudbury cover smallmouth bass, northern pike and yellow perch. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. At Ford Lake light and wind decide more than tackle does.
Average temperature peaks around 18°C in July and bottoms out near -14°C in January. Winter shuts things down for a spell, then spring reopens them fast. Firm cover through the cold months, then open water from late April. Going by climate averages, expect open water from about late April until roughly late November. Reckon on open water from spring through to late autumn, with May and June the strongest. At Ford Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Carafel Lake sits 1.7 km off and takes the overflow. None of that is settled for Ford Lake in what we hold.
