No direct sun expected today, with a proper ripple driven from the W with the glass holding level. Expect most activity at Falby Lake around reed fringes and open pockets. Not a day the forecast likes; the evening keeps a flicker of interest. One good spot fished well beats five fished quickly.

Falby Lake stands in Parry Sound District, Ontario. Mixed forest runs right down to the water. At about 12 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. Roughly 2.2 km of bank means you can walk to a fresh area when one goes quiet. Some 19 km away sits South River, the nearest settlement. Further out sit Powassan (38 km) and Huntsville (51 km). It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Fish documented in Parry Sound District include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and northern pike. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Work Falby Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
Between January at about -11°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly late April. Expect the water usable from around late April until roughly early December. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. That shapes the year on Falby Lake.
No access rule appears in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Hughes Lake, 2.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Check the current arrangement for Falby Lake.
