Soft grey light all day today, with a consistent blow out of the SSW with the barometer flat. Expect most activity at Echo Lake around bays that hold the day's warmth. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Echo Lake sits within Frontenac County in Ontario. Pine and birch runs right down to the water. At about 47 hectares, a day is enough to walk the shoreline properly. The shoreline runs about 5.5 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. It lies lower than most water we list in Ontario. Head to Sharbot Lake, 20 km away, for anything you forgot. Beyond it, Sharpton/Glenvale at 33 km and Elginburg/Silvers Corners/Shannons Corners at 38 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Frontenac County records list pumpkinseed, bluegill and rock bass among the fish reported. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Echo Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Temperature averages peak at 20°C in July and bottom out at -10°C in January. Expect a real winter and a strong spring after it. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid April. The season between ice runs from about mid April to early December. The open run goes from the thaw to the freeze, and April through October covers most of it. That shapes the year on Echo Lake.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Rules for boats are stricter than rules for the bank in many places. Loon Lake sits 4.3 km off and takes the overflow. For Echo Lake in particular, ask before you travel.
