Broken cloud drifting past the moon tonight, with a decent W wind working the banks with a settled glass. Start the search at De Bois Lake along shallow cover and weed edges. The strongest window runs from morning through afternoon. Keep expectations modest and fish carefully. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

De Bois Lake lies within the bounds of Parry Sound District, Ontario. It lies 240 metres above sea level. With some 88 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. There is roughly 13 km of bank, more than one visit can cover properly. Size puts it in the front rank of our Parry Sound District list. Parry Sound lies 35 km from the water. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 120 km away. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Species logged across Parry Sound District include smallmouth bass, pumpkinseed, yellow perch and northern pike. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to De Bois Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Between January at about -10°C and July at about 19°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough mid April. In an average year the thaw lands around mid April and the freeze near early December. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. Plan around that when you fish De Bois Lake.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Local rules can differ across the county line, so check where you stand. Where the way in crosses private ground, ask first. For a change of water, Pinetree Lake is 1.3 km distant. None of that is settled for De Bois Lake in what we hold.
