Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a firm WNW blow and no real change in pressure. Most of the action on Coleman Lake should come off reed fringes and open pockets. Nothing special in any period, but nothing dead either. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Cooler water spreads fish back across the shallows.

Coleman Lake is a Kenora District water, Ontario side. The bank gives way to mixed forest. Surface area is around 12 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. With about 2.0 km of edge, you can try several depths in one session. On size it sits at the modest end of our Kenora District list. Lac du Bonnet sits 74 km from the bank. The big place round here is Winnipeg, 161 km distant. It sits well inside the county, so one set of rules covers it.
Depth is not on record here, which means reading the ground instead. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Records held for Kenora District cover northern pike, longnose sucker and white sucker. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. Anyone new to Coleman Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Expect July to average close to 19°C, with January the cold end at about -19°C. A solid cap is the normal state through winter. Ice-out usually falls in late April, and the weeks after it fish hardest. From about late April to around mid November, expect open water on the long-run figures. Late spring and early autumn carry the year between them. That is the shape of the year on Coleman Lake.
Nothing we hold confirms whether access is permitted. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Nothing built is recorded close to the bank here. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Signs go up and come down, so check on the day. For a change of water, Reynar Lake is 1.5 km distant. Check the position on Coleman Lake before loading the car.
