A day shaped by the wind, with a consistent blow out of the SSW and pressure sitting still. Start the search at Christianson Lake along windblown banks where food collects. Make the night the heart of the trip. Make the first hour count and build on it. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Look for Christianson Lake in the Cochrane District part of Ontario. Everything around it is northern bush. This is sizeable water at about 1.52 sq km, and a boat opens up most of it. With 5.4 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Size puts it in the front rank of our Cochrane District list. You are 98 km from Cochrane. For a city, Greater Sudbury is 369 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
We hold no depth figure for this one. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Cochrane District records list northern pike, yellow perch, white sucker and Iowa darter among the fish reported. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. At Christianson Lake the water rewards a slow, careful approach.
The year swings from about -20°C in January to roughly 16°C in July. The fishing year opens late and shuts early. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. Open water usually runs from early May until about mid November. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Expect Christianson Lake to follow that timing.
The access position is unclear from public sources. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. We find no slipway, car park or made path within a short radius, so treat access as rough. A small crankbait along the drop and a worm in the thick stuff cover the bass. A phone call first saves an afternoon. Where parking is tight, arriving early solves most problems. Little Kesagami Lake, 6.1 km away, makes the obvious fallback. None of that is settled for Christianson Lake in what we hold.
