Solid cloud cover today, with a firm WNW blow with a settled glass. Boer Lake should fish best around the shallows early and the drop later today. No standout window; expect steady, modest action. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Boer Lake is a Kenora District water, in Ontario. The bank is 345 metres above sea level. It measures about 38 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 2.3 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. Nearest place of any size is Vermilion Bay, 12 km away. Beyond it, Dryden at 39 km and Kenora at 91 km. It lies deep inside the county rather than near an edge.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Kenora District, recorded fish include northern pike, longnose sucker and white sucker. Read it as a county summary, not a water-by-water list. The shape of Boer Lake rewards a slow walk along one bank.
July runs about 18°C on average, January about -18°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. The open season starts with the thaw, near enough late April. The open-water window runs from around late April to about mid November in an average year. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. It sets the rhythm of the year at Boer Lake.
Public data does not answer the access question here. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Public data shows nothing built here, so treat the whole approach as informal. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Provincial rules still apply whatever the bank status. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. If the gate is shut, Soma Lake at 4.1 km is the nearest alternative. Nothing here settles the position at Boer Lake for certain.
