A grey, even sky over the water, with a decent NW wind working the banks and no real change in pressure. Expect most activity at Bluebell Lake around the shallows early and the drop later. The day peaks in the evening. Take the steady approach over the searching one. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Bluebell Lake sits in Kenora District, out in Ontario. The country round it is lake country bush from end to end. The water covers some 16 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. There is roughly 1.6 km of shoreline here, which is a short walk end to end. It is a small entry by Kenora District standards. The closest town, Kenora, is 17 km distant. Then Moose Lake, 69 km, and Vermilion Bay, 92 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth is unmeasured here, so let the shoreline guide you. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker and white sucker among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. Read Bluebell Lake for ten minutes before the first cast goes out.
Averages here run 19°C at the top of summer and -17°C at the bottom of winter. The middle months are generous; the ends are demanding. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. On Bluebell Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Pike mean a wire trace, no exceptions; big spoons and jerkbaits do the searching. Rules for this water may differ from the county norm. Check whether bait restrictions apply before you buy any. The nearest alternative is Lily Lake, 1.6 km out. Signs at Bluebell Lake carry more weight than any list.
