A closed sky with even light today, with a light SSW breeze and steady pressure. Start the search at Blackberry Lake along sheltered bays and points. The night should out-fish the rest of the day. Push the good hours hard and rest through the dead ones. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Blackberry Lake is listed under District Municipality of Muskoka, Ontario. Height above sea level is 339 metres. The water measures roughly 10 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. The whole outline is near 2.4 km, and most of it is walkable. Bracebridge sits 30 km from here and is the nearest stop. Haliburton Village is 34 km away, with Gravenhurst at 35 km. The line between counties passes nearby, which can change who manages the water.
Our records carry no depth, so judge it from the bank. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. Fish documented in District Municipality of Muskoka include pumpkinseed, smallmouth bass, northern pike, yellow perch and rock bass. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Anyone new to Blackberry Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Typical July readings run about 18°C; by January the average is down near -11°C. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Count on hard cover from midwinter, and open water from mid April. Climate averages put the opening at about mid April and the closing near early December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. The season on Blackberry Lake rarely departs from it.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. A campsite is mapped about 940 m away, which makes an early start easier. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. Little East Lake sits 1.1 km off and takes the overflow. Nothing here settles the position at Blackberry Lake for certain.
