Soft grey light all day today, with flat calm through the day with the glass holding level. The productive water at Bewag Lake will be around bays that hold the day's warmth. A middling, even day, steady rather than spectacular. Work fewer spots, but work them properly. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Rainy River District, Ontario, is where Bewag Lake sits. Elevation runs to 411 metres. Surface area runs to roughly 2.39 sq km, so plan for one area rather than the whole. The shoreline runs about 17 km, so it pays to pick a stretch and stay with it. Supplies mean a trip to Atikokan, 12 km off. Ignace is 80 km and Ely 89 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
No depth figure has reached our records, which makes a plummet useful. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Across Rainy River District, recorded fish include northern pike, smallmouth bass and yellow perch. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Bewag Lake fishes better once you know its edges.
Between January at about -17°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. The freeze arrives properly here and holds. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around late April. On the long-run averages the water opens up around late April and starts locking again about mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Time your trip to Bewag Lake by conditions rather than dates.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Public mapping records no formal access here, so plan for a walk and soft ground. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Lark Lake, 1.6 km away, makes the obvious fallback. What applies at Bewag Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
