Hard light and clear air over the water, with a soft WNW wind with the barometer flat. Start the search at Beavertrap Lake along inflow corners and shaded margins. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Night
Out in Thunder Bay District, Ontario, sits Beavertrap Lake. Elevation runs to 300 metres. Roughly 63 hectares: a morning covers one end, an afternoon the other. With 6.7 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. Supplies mean a trip to Schreiber, 27 km off. After that come Terrace Bay at 37 km and Nipigon at 59 km. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth remains unrecorded, so treat the first session as a survey. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Across Thunder Bay District, recorded fish include cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Work Beavertrap Lake in sections rather than trying to cover it.
The seasonal spread runs -17°C to 16°C. The season is measured in weeks rather than months. Winter locks it down, and early May brings it back. Expect the water usable from around early May until roughly mid November. Fishing peaks soon after break-up and again before the cold returns. Anyone fishing Beavertrap Lake regularly works to that calendar.
Who may fish here is not settled in anything we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. There is no mapped parking or launch nearby, which keeps numbers down. Keep the gear simple: light line, small hooks, split shot and a couple of proven lures. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. For a change of water, Sandridge Lake is 2.2 km distant. Rules at Beavertrap Lake are worth checking on the day.
