Scattered cloud dimming the moonlight, with a busy NW wind on the open water and pressure sitting still. Most of the action on Beaverhouse Lake should come off the calm side of the wind. A tough forecast; the middle of the day offers the only real chance. Keep baits small and presentations quiet.

The Thunder Bay District entry here is Beaverhouse Lake, in Ontario. The bank gives way to spruce and muskeg. With some 26 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. With 5.1 km or so of shoreline, boat anglers cover ground the bank cannot. The closest town, Geraldton, is 18 km distant. Thunder Bay is the closest city, 218 km away. Rules here are straightforward: one set of provincial rules.
Depth here is unknown, so count the lead down before committing. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Records held for Thunder Bay District cover cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. The county figures include rivers and lakes alike. On Beaverhouse Lake the quiet end is the one worth the extra effort.
Typical July readings run about 16°C; by January the average is down near -18°C. Long winters and short summers set the pattern. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about early May. The lid tends to go about early May and return around mid November. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Beaverhouse Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No launch point is recorded nearby, so this is a bank water unless you carry a boat in. One rod, a handful of hooks and floats, and a few small lures are enough for this water. Bank access can be seasonal on ground like this. A polite question at the farm gate opens more banks than anything else. If the gate is shut, Threepoint Lake at 1.2 km is the nearest alternative. Confirm before you fish Beaverhouse Lake.
