Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with a steady SSW wind and pressure sitting still. Whatever swims in Beaver Lake should be near the calm side of the wind. Expectations low today; if anything moves, it will be in the morning. Fish the best hour hard and keep the rest short. Autumn fish are feeding up and less fussy than in summer.

Beaver Lake is one of the Frontenac County listings for Ontario. Land around it is pine and birch. It runs to roughly 10 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. The margin runs to about 6.1 km in total. Supplies mean a trip to Sharbot Lake, 11 km off. Further out sit Perth (45 km) and Tweed (55 km). This one is safely inside the county line.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Across Frontenac County, recorded fish include pumpkinseed, bluegill, rock bass and smallmouth bass. The list covers the county rather than this water alone, so treat it as a guide. Beaver Lake repays a walk before the first cast.
July runs about 20°C on average, January about -10°C. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. Expect a solid lid for months and a thaw around mid April. The season between ice runs from about mid April to early December. The weeks after the thaw and the ones before the freeze are the strongest. Beaver Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Our records carry no access rule either way. It formed naturally, so levels move with rainfall rather than with a gate. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Take the rules with you rather than trusting memory. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Calvin Lake, 1.4 km away, makes the obvious fallback. Nothing on Beaver Lake should be assumed from this page alone.
