Cloud from horizon to horizon today, with enough ENE wind to stack food downwind with a settled glass. Give windblown banks where food collects the first hour at Bass Lake. The day fishes best from the day. Fish confidently and change only when the bites stop. Fish follow the bait in autumn, so find one to find the other.

This water sits in Algoma, Ontario. It stands 183 metres above sea level. The water covers around 1.04 sq km, which puts most of it out of reach from the bank. At about 5.4 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. It ranks high for size among our Algoma listings. Nearest place of any size is Blind River, 6.3 km away. Greater Sudbury is the closest city, 149 km away. The nearest boundary is a fair way off.
Depth is unknown to us, and the shoreline is the better guide. Still water like this holds fish on the edges rather than out in the open. This is a lake, so the margins and the first drop matter most. Public occurrence data for Algoma names walleye, northern pike, Iowa darter and yellow perch. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. Anyone new to Bass Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Long-run averages give July about 19°C and January about -10°C. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about mid April. Climate figures give an open season running mid April to early December. The middle of summer slows a little, with dawn and dusk carrying it. At Bass Lake the season follows that pattern closely.
Public data does not answer the access question here. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Nothing formal is recorded here: no ramp, no car park, no marked path. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Sort the permit out before you load the car. Where tickets apply, they are sold in the nearest town rather than on the bank. Allen Lake at 0.9 km is the sensible second choice. None of that is settled for Bass Lake in what we hold.
