No direct sun expected today, with stillness over the whole water and the barometer holding steady. Give bays that hold the day's warmth the first hour at Banks Lake. If you must go, go in the middle of the day. Keep baits small and presentations quiet. Cooling water has fish active and on the move.

Banks Lake lies in Timiskaming District, in Ontario. The land about it is rolling bush. About 2.87 sq km, so local knowledge or a boat saves a lot of walking. At about 13 km of edge, most people work one arm at a time. On our Timiskaming District list it sits near the top for size. Head to Temiskaming Shores, 51 km away, for anything you forgot. For a city, Greater Sudbury is 120 km off. This one is safely inside the county line.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. The shallow end warms first and pulls fish in ahead of the rest. Timiskaming District records list brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye among the fish reported. County records show the wider picture rather than this one place. Fish Banks Lake to its features, not to its size.
Temperature averages peak at 17°C in July and bottom out at -16°C in January. The season turns properly here, and fish follow it closely. After early May the shallows warm and the fish move up. Averages suggest open water from about early May through to roughly mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. That is the shape of the year on Banks Lake.
Public sources are silent on who controls the bank. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. Mapping shows an empty shoreline: no ramp, no jetty, no marked entry. Bass water: a Texas-rigged worm near cover, a spinnerbait when you need to cover ground. Parking is often the real limit rather than the bank itself. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Sherwood Lake sits 3.2 km off and takes the overflow. The position on Banks Lake is worth confirming on the day.
