Low, flat cloud sitting over the water, with enough NW wind to stack food downwind and pressure sitting still. Activity on Baltic Lake should centre on structure within a cast of the bank. Numbers are low everywhere; the middle of the day is the pick of them. Take the small wins and call it early if it dies.

Baltic Lake is set in Kenora District, Ontario. The surface lies 470 metres up. It measures about 92 hectares, which is a comfortable size for bank fishing. The edge runs 4.2 km or so, easy to work in an afternoon. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Ontario listings. The closest town, Ignace, is 76 km distant. Thunder Bay is the closest city, 169 km away. It sits well inside its county, with no border complications.
There is no recorded depth, so work from what you can see. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Kenora District, recorded fish include northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker and johnny darter. Those are county-wide records, so not every one of them will be in this water. The near bank of Baltic Lake is often the one people ignore.
Climate normals give 17°C for July and -20°C for January. Fishing here follows the temperature more than the calendar. The lid arrives early and lasts until roughly early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. Early summer and early autumn carry the open-water season. It sets the rhythm of the year at Baltic Lake.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. Records list it as a natural water body rather than an impoundment. No slipway, car park or made path shows up nearby in mapping, so treat access as rough. Check locally before you travel, because a wasted drive is a long one. Some water is controlled locally without a sign saying so. If the gate is shut, Crowfoot Lake at 2.1 km is the nearest alternative. Check the position at Baltic Lake before loading the car.
