A crisp, open sky after dark, with a steady SSW wind with the glass holding level. Whatever swims in Arabella Lake should be near the shallows early and the drop later. The productive run goes the day. Fish tidy and take what the day gives. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

Arabella Lake is one of the Timiskaming District waters in Ontario. The ground round it is mixed forest. The water measures roughly 5 hectares, so nothing here is far from anything else. On size it sits at the modest end of our Timiskaming District list. Start from Temiskaming Shores, 40 km down the road. Greater Sudbury sits 119 km out, and it is the nearest city worth the name. This one is safely inside the county line.
No figure exists for depth, so let the water show you. Read the surface for the wind lane, then fish the edge of it. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Timiskaming District records list brook trout, northern pike, yellow perch, Iowa darter and walleye among the fish reported. County records show what lives in the area; the local agency holds the water-by-water list. Arabella Lake gives up its fish to patience rather than distance.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -16°C for January. The year splits cleanly: hard water, then open water. The lid usually goes in late April, which opens the strongest weeks of the year. Average temperatures cross freezing around late April in spring and again near mid November in autumn. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Plan around that when you fish Arabella Lake.
There is no clear statement anywhere on who can fish it. Nothing in the way of made access shows up nearby: no ramp, no car park, no path. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. Bergeron Lake at 2 km is the sensible second choice. Check the current arrangement for Arabella Lake.
