A wet system passing over today, with enough WNW wind to stack food downwind and pressure going nowhere. Anape Lake should fish best around the weed line and any gaps in it today. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Set in Kenora District, Anape Lake is an Ontario water. The setting is pine and birch. The water covers some 40 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. The full circuit measures close to 3.5 km on foot. The town to know is Red Lake, 77 km out. The nearest city of size is Winnipeg, 340 km away. The county line is nowhere near, so one local authority covers the water.
Depth is not on record here, so the bank has to tell you. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. A natural lake fishes on cover, and cover here means weed and timber. Kenora District records list northern pike, longnose sucker, white sucker, johnny darter and logperch among the fish reported. It is the county picture; the agency list is water-specific. On Anape Lake the obvious spot is not always the productive one.
Between January at about -20°C and July at about 18°C, the water has a wide range to work through. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The season between ice runs from about early May to mid November. May into June fishes hardest, and September gives a second good stretch before the lid returns. It holds true on Anape Lake more years than not.
The access position is unclear from public sources. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. No made access appears within a short radius, so plan to park on a verge and walk. A wire trace and a big bright lure handle the pike; deep water asks for a heavier spoon. Parking space is the usual limit rather than the bank itself. Some ground is open by custom rather than by right, so tread carefully. The nearest alternative is Lower Slate Lake, 2.1 km out. Confirm access to Anape Lake locally before you travel.
