Patchy cloud over the water after dark, with a faint W drift with the barometer flat. Fish at Alberta Lake should hold close to the first drop-off and weed lines. A stay-home graph, with the night as the one excuse to go. Save the long walk for a better forecast. Falling temperatures are switching fish back on.

In Ontario, Alberta Lake falls inside Thunder Bay District. Height above sea level is 334 metres. Surface area is around 30 hectares, which gives you real water without needing a boat. Around 3.0 km of margin, front to back. For supplies, Manitouwadge is 32 km out. Terrace Bay is 80 km and Schreiber 91 km. The nearest edge is a long way off, so local rules apply throughout.
Open data we checked carries no depth for this water. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Records held for Thunder Bay District cover cisco, blackfin cisco, rainbow smelt and bloater. Records at county level tell you what is around, not what is stocked here. Read Alberta Lake before you fish it and the day goes better.
Expect July to average close to 16°C, with January the cold end at about -16°C. Open water is the exception rather than the rule here. Winter fishing happens on the ice here, with open water back around early May. The water is typically free of ice between early May and mid November. Fish feed hardest at the start and the close of the open season. On Alberta Lake the same rules apply, with local timing.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. A light spinning outfit with a small box of lures and some bait covers most of what swims here. Where a permit is needed, the nearest town usually sells it. Night access is frequently treated as a separate matter. If the gate is shut, Pan Lake at 3.6 km is the nearest alternative. What applies at Alberta Lake may have changed since it was mapped.
