Flat light and a covered sky today, with a decent SW wind working the banks and pressure going nowhere. On Vincents Lake, work the weed line and any gaps in it first. The productive run goes night into morning. Start on the obvious water and expand from there. Shortening days concentrate the feeding into fewer hours.

Vincents Lake is one of the Antigonish County waters in Nova Scotia. The ground around here is lake country bush. Surface area runs to about 6 hectares — small enough to read in one session. By elevation it is in the upper part of our Nova Scotia listings. The nearest town is Antigonish, 16 km away. Trenton follows at 39 km, then New Glasgow at 41 km. The boundary is near enough that local access rules are worth double-checking.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. A soft bed grows weed late into autumn, which keeps fish shallow. Weed, then depth: that is the order to fish a water of this kind. Species logged across Antigonish County include American eel, striped bass, brook trout and alewife. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Anyone new to Vincents Lake should walk it once before setting up.
Typical August readings run about 18°C; by February the average is down near -8°C. Cold locks it up for a good stretch each year. Ice fishing carries the winter, and the water opens about late April. The water is typically free of ice between late April and mid December. September and October fish steadily right up to the freeze. Vincents Lake runs to that rhythm year in and year out.
Nothing in our records says who may fish here. Mapping shows no built access close by; expect to walk in from wherever you can leave the car. Largemouth respond to soft plastics tight to cover; go weedless where the growth is heavy. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Close seasons apply to some species and not others. The nearest alternative is Vameys Lake, 8.4 km out. None of that is settled for Vincents Lake in what we hold.
