An even grey lid over the water, with just enough ESE wind to ripple the surface with the barometer flat. Taylors Lake should fish best around points where shallow meets deep today. The forecast backs the stretch from the day. Ride the conditions while they last. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

Taylors Lake stands in Annapolis County, Nova Scotia. Tidal water begins 38 km from here. With some 19 hectares of water, there is room for a boat but no need of one. The whole outline is near 2.0 km, and most of it is walkable. Digby lies 46 km from the water. Middleton follows at 53 km, then Bridgewater at 56 km. A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
No published figure covers depth, so learn it as you fish. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. County-wide records name alewife, Atlantic salmon, chain pickerel and yellow perch. Protected fish appear in the records for this area, so treat the list as information, not an invitation. Anyone new to Taylors Lake should walk it once before setting up.
In an average year July sits at 18°C and January at -6°C. Winter closes the water for a while, and the reopening is worth catching. Ice is part of the season here, ending near mid April. Break-up sits around mid April on average, with the water closing again about mid December. The strong weeks are the first after break-up and the last before the freeze. The season on Taylors Lake rarely departs from it.
Ownership and access are not documented in what we hold. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. No car park, ramp or path is recorded within easy reach of the shore. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Should this one be busy, First Lake is 2.5 km off. Rules at Taylors Lake are worth checking on the day.
