No direct sun expected today, with a kind W breeze on the water and no real change in pressure. Fish at Sunrise Lake should hold close to sheltered bays and points. The useful hours run the day. Trust the forecast and stay out through the window. Autumn rewards covering water while the fish roam.

The Annapolis County end of Nova Scotia holds Sunrise Lake. Tidal water begins 26 km from here. This is a pocket water of some 8 hectares, and every part of it is reachable from the bank. Head to Digby, 37 km away, for anything you forgot. After that come Middleton at 47 km and Greenwood at 55 km. Neighbouring water: Little Sundown Lake within 0.9 km, Elder Lake 1.8 km, Allison Lake within 2.3 km, Rocky Lake 3 km and Elder Brook within 3.9 km. There is no boundary nearby to worry about.
No depth figure appears in our records, so the bank has to tell you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. On a natural lake the weed line and the shelf beyond it do the work. Across Annapolis County, recorded fish include alewife, Atlantic salmon, chain pickerel and yellow perch. Several of these carry legal protection or closed seasons; the rulebook comes before the rod. At Sunrise Lake the first feature you find is worth twenty minutes.
Temperature averages peak at 18°C in July and bottom out at -6°C in January. Four clear seasons, with a proper winter at one end. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid April. Open water usually runs from mid April until about mid December. June through September is the settled part of the year, with the shoulders busier for fish. It holds true on Sunrise Lake more years than not.
No access rule appears in what we hold. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Ask in the nearest town if you are unsure. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. For a change of water, Little Sundown Lake is 0.9 km distant.
