Heavy overcast holding through the day, with a helpful ripple pushed from the SE and steady pressure. The productive water at Skull Lake will be around any hard bottom among the soft. Everything points to the evening. Make the first hour count and build on it. The pre-winter feed makes autumn days generous.

Set in Annapolis County, Skull Lake is a Nova Scotia water. Salt water lies 5.5 km off. It runs to roughly 24 hectares — big enough to hold fish away from the bank, small enough to learn. A shoreline of some 2.7 km keeps the choices simple. Digby lies 18 km from the water. Further out sit Middleton (48 km) and Greenwood (59 km). A county line runs close by, so local bylaws can differ within a short drive.
Depth went unrecorded, which puts the reading back on you. The productive water is a rod length or two out, not a hundred. Bays and points beat straight shoreline every time on water like this. Survey and observation records for Annapolis County include alewife, Atlantic salmon, chain pickerel, yellow perch and blueback herring. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Skull Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
The range across the year is -6°C to 18°C. A hard winter is normal, and the thaw brings a strong few weeks. Hard cover is dependable here; it goes around mid April. Expect the water usable from around mid April until roughly mid December. The strongest runs come at either end of the open season. Keep it in mind when planning a trip to Skull Lake.
The rules here are undocumented as far as public sources go. No dam controls it, and the level follows the season. Nothing is listed nearby for parking or launching a boat. For the pike, wire up and throw larger lures along the weed edges. Gates get locked out of season on water like this. Some stretches are reserved and marked as such on the ground. For a change of water, Beelers Lake is 1.8 km distant. Treat access at Skull Lake as something to verify.
