Low mist over the surface today, with a light chop building from the ESE with the barometer flat. The fish at Shea Lake are likely to sit near structure within a cast of the bank. A long productive spell runs morning through afternoon. A careful, quiet approach will out-fish a busy one.

Shea Lake lies in Lunenburg County, in Nova Scotia. Height above sea level is 151 metres. The water covers some 20 hectares, so pick a bank rather than trying to cover it all. Shoreline comes to about 2.0 km, small enough to learn in a day. Chester sits 18 km from here and is the nearest stop. Beyond it, Mahone Bay at 30 km and Windsor at 33 km. Being near a boundary, it pays to know which side you are fishing.
There is no published depth for this one, so start shallow and work out. Look for the band where the shallows give up and the bottom falls away. Where the bottom changes texture, fish gather; find that line. Lunenburg County records list American eel, Atlantic whitefish, smallmouth bass, striped bass and white perch among the fish reported. At least one recorded species is protected in parts of its range; read the local rules before targeting anything. Shea Lake gives up more to patience than to distance.
Climate normals give 18°C for July and -6°C for January. A full turn of seasons, with the strongest sport on either side of summer. After mid April the shallows warm and the fish move up. Open water usually runs from mid April until about mid December. Look to early summer and the first cool weeks of autumn. Shea Lake fishes to that pattern most years.
Whether the bank is open is not something our records settle. This is a natural basin, not a dammed one. Formal access is not mapped, so the last stretch is likely on foot. For the bass here, soft plastics worked slow along cover and a spinnerbait for searching do most of the work. Check whether a boat is allowed before you tow one. Access can change hands, so last year's answer may not hold. Failing this one, try Mill Lake, 2.7 km away. For Shea Lake, the notice at the access point is the final word.
